Circle of Care Adelaide began as an association of the Adelaide Bariatric Center with clinics of similar philosophy to the management of obesity in Sydney and Perth. The Adelaide Bariatric Center begun at Flinders Private Hospital in early 2006 bringing together the bariatric practices of Dr Lilian Kow and Professor James Toouli in order to maximize the delivery of multidisciplinary management to the treatment of obesity. Recently Dr. Jacob Chisholm has joined the team as a third surgeon.
The surgeons believed from the very early days of their bariatric practice in the 1980s that the multidisciplinary approach to the management of obesity was central to its success.
The Adelaide Circle of Care Clinics have been designed to offer complete in house multidisciplinary care for all patients undergoing surgery for obesity. In house multidisciplinary support is provided for all of our patients and is included in the comprehensive circle of care management package. This includes regular follow up by the surgeons and bariatric practinioner, reviews by the dietician, an exercise programme, regular support meetings with our nurses and psychologist either in a group or individually as required. All of this in conjunction with your local doctor and/or specialists.
The surgeons at circle of care Adelaide will discuss with you the operation most appropriate for your condition. The operation may be an adjustable gastric band, a sleeve gastrectomy , gastric bypass or intra gastric balloon.
